Portland International Airport Awards New Contract to The Paradies Shops

News and Gift Selections Expand at Gateway to Oregon

Atlanta, GA – October 5, 2011 – The Paradies Shops, named “Best Airport Retailer” for 16 consecutive years by Airport Revenue News’ “Best Of” Poll, was awarded an 11-year agreement to provide new retail concessions at Portland International Airport (PDX). 

“We expect our continued partnership with The Paradies Shops to once again redefine the news and gift business model,” said Chris Madsen, business and properties general manager for the Port of Portland, which owns and operates PDX. “We thank The Paradies Shops for bringing some of the best the Northwest has to offer to the travelers at PDX.”

Two new concepts will be introduced as part of the new contract: Your NorthWest TravelMart and Your NorthWest MarketPlace. Your NorthWest TravelMart expands on a decade’s worth of tradition at PDX. This modern version of a beloved concept will continue to partner with Columbia Empire Farms to offer regional gifts and gourmet selections, as well as fresh Boyd’s Coffee and tasty grab-and-go items from Portland favorite Reo’s Ribs.

Travelers who will step inside Your NorthWest MarketPlace will experience an open and inviting atmosphere that embodies Oregon and its natural warmth. This location will feature sampling of craft beverages, including award-winning beers made with Oregon-grown hops, distinctive pinot noirs made from grapes grown in the Willamette Valley, or sparking juices and sodas. The main store’s retail space features a wide range of books, newspapers, and magazines; fresh-to-go foods and beverages with a healthy, organic emphasis; Oregon-themed gifts, including baskets overflowing with marionberry syrups and jams, Pacific salmon, and Tilamook cheeses; and convenience items catered to travelers on the go.
