Jethro Pugh/Two Podners Scholarship Invitational
The Jethro Pugh/Two Podners Scholarship Invitational Golf Tournament was held at TPC Las Colinas located at the beautiful Four Seasons Resort and Club in Dallas, Texas on Monday, October 25th to once again raise funds for the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). The annual golf tournament sponsored and organized by leading airport concessionaire The Paradies Shops and Jethro Pugh were joined this year by Two Podners to raise more than $30,000 at this prestigious event.
For 17 years, Jethro Pugh headlined this tournament which has generated over $600,000 to assist scholarship recipients of UNCF Colleges and Universities within Texas. This year, the tournament was joined by Two Podners, the Dallas Bar-B-Que and Seafood institution since 1981 to provide even more support for college-bound young adults.
The Scholarship Fund grants a $10,000 scholarship each year for four years to a deserving student attending a Texas UNCF college, with the remaining funds going directly to UNCF. Recognized at the tournament was scholarship recipient Rayan Morris who has excelled academically while also volunteering positive time in his community.
Former Dallas Cowboys stars who attended the tournament included Ed “Too Tall” Jones and Jethro Pugh. Additional event sponsors were Nestle Waters North America, Coors Distributing Company and Coca-Cola Enterprises.
“For 18 years, this tournament has become an annual tradition of raising funds to help the future business men and women of Texas receive a college education. During these challenging economic times, we realize it is more important than ever to raise awareness and funding for these dedicated students,” said Gregg Paradies, president and CEO of The Paradies Shops. “I am very proud of the team effort that took place to make this year’s tournament such a success, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with Jethro Pugh, Two Podners and UNCF to plan another successful tournament next year.”
