Ft.
Lauderdale
International
Airport to form the Paradies/Ruffin Scholarship Fund, which began in 1993.
The Paradies/Ruffin Scholarship Foundation receives a $10,000 grant each year from Paradies-Ft. Lauderdale, and have to date awarded over 55 scholarships totaling more than $200,000.
The Foundation distributes funds each year to assist minority students with interests in one of the business disciplines. Almost 90% of scholarships received have been from single parent or no parent homes.
The Scholarship Program focuses additional efforts to assist college bound immigrant students who, because of citizen status, may not have other sources for college funds, and a significant number of scholarships have gone to local minority students from diverse backgrounds. An important aspect of this Scholarship Program is to continually embrace the shared vision of encouraging young people to finish their education and return to the community.
