One evening while Nammasita Toure was working at a news kiosk at
LaGuardia Airport, she found a lost wallet. Nammasita immediately
went to the nearest ticket counter to have the owner of the wallet
paged, however no one responded. With her Team Leader present, Nammasita
opened the wallet to find contact information for the owner. Nammasita
found the address, and she happened to live right there in New York
City.
Rather than risk the wallet being lost again in shipping, Nammasita
decided to return the wallet personally. With another associate,
Nammasita rode into the city to deliver the wallet. Arriving at
the customer’s building, they were escorted upstairs where they
returned the wallet to an extremely grateful traveler. Relieved,
the customer offered Nammasita a monetary reward, which she refused,
as she was only just taking care of her customer.
The traveler happened to fly out of LaGuardia the next day, and
again tried to offer Nammasita a reward. Nammasita instead gave
her a Customer Comment Card, which was filled out with the following:
"Namasitta found my wallet and returned
it to my apartment intact! BLESS HER! VALUE HER!!"
