In August 2009, Team Leader Miyoshi Henke was working her shift at the PGA TOUR Shop at DFW. Suddenly, the customer she had just finished assisting collapsed on the floor with an apparent heart attack. Two Team Leads in the area assisted Miyoshi by calling 911 and clearing the area, as well as retrieving an AED Device.
Miyoshi, with the assistance of two customers in the shop, positioned the fallen customer on his back. Miyoshi then checked his pulse – she could not find one and his breathing was labored. In a moment of great calm, she began to perform CPR on the customer until the medics arrived 10 minutes later. Once there, the medics took over and continued with CPR and utilizing the defibrillator on the customer until he was stable enough to transport to the hospital, but he had yet to regain consciousness. The team at DFW later received word the customer was stable and sitting up in his hospital room two days later.
Miyoshi went above and beyond to help one of our customers in his time of need, and in doing so, she maintained her composure and quickly reacted and helped save his life. Miyoshi and her fellow Team Leaders received praise and recognition from the other customers that were present in the shop, keeping the situation in control and giving new meaning to the term “customer service.”
